Boho Earrings are a Beacon of Light
As I have mentioned many times before, I love Boho style. I'm not sure if it gets a capital B but it does in my book.
You see, Boho earrings, for example offer such a broad spectrum of choice to the wearer. Lets face it, we don't need to label our clothing or our style but for the purpose of discussing it we need to label it so we are all on the same page. I am not generally into labeling these days. It can be limiting. When you are tired and lacking in descriptive abilities, then a ball park label can help with expediency. You have to be careful though. Anyhow, I am digressing... as usual.. Boho earrings are my 'beacon of light in an uptight world', is what I'm really getting at!
Back to Boho Earrings and suchlike
Boho style, let me reiterate, comes from the French 'Bohemien', (apologies, accents missing), Romani Gypsy. The meaning nowadays is 'socially unconventional in an artistic way', more or less.
There's a certain freedom in that. You can get away with wearing anything then if you are 'Bohemian'. That's a funny concept in itself really. Everyone can wear what they like and pretty much think they do but very often personal styles merge.
People like to be individual but also like to belong so they hint at a bit of individuality by having a favourite colour or particular hat style or shoe style.
There are benefits to 'fitting in', so to speak but personally, I have never really sought to fit in generally. Usually fitting in entails altering yourself to appeal to the common mores. That is, according to the Oxford dictionary, 'the essential or characteristic customs and conventions of a society or community'. Having moved several times during my life from a very young age it would have meant changing myself every time to accommodate someone else's norms. I have come to appreciate that although you may stick out like a sore thumb and sometimes feel at odds with the folk around you, depending on what is going on, it is infinitely more beneficial to be yourself and seek out like minded individuals who celebrate difference and who are often free thinkers themselves.
Back to Boho Earrings
I love the idea of Boho wedding earrings but in all the years designing for Lapanda Designs, my first real business, I have never designed Boho wedding earrings on purpose. Having said that, many people have bought my earrings over the years and it still gives me a thrill when they wear them.
Boho screams freedom. It shouts for the joy of life, vibrancy, art and theatre. Some Lapanda Designs earrings fit into the 'Boho' style automatically but I intend to be more specific about it.
The latest 'Dreamy Delights' collection could be considered a little Boho since each pair is different and you never know what is coming next. They are certainly unconventional. The great thing is that more and more people are grasping the fact that being different is great and enviable in so many ways and that sticking out, although it can be lonely at times, is much more beneficial than trying to blend in with the 'norm'. No one who ever achieved anything of greatness was ever really part of the safe 'norm'. There are more and more displaced people in the world and most of them are lovely, interesting, well meaning human beings getting on with their lives. To embrace difference and individuality is to embrace humanity. If you are not keen on some of the differences you don't have to worry as it will not rub off onto you. As long as no harm is done to others then freedom to be oneself should be encouraged.
I Intend on Designing Silver Boho Earrings
Gold Boho earring too. Although, Sterling Silver hooks are included in all of Lapanda Designs earrings, unless otherwise requested. Gold plate is tolerated by most people, so I could do some gold Boho earrings with that and other metal alloys.
The upshot is that for me, Boho Style represents freedom and unconventionality. Is exudes culture, colour and rich imagination. It is a celebration of life. What's not to love about it?
