March 2026: The Joy of Dance in the Studio
As the spring breeze begins to stir, I find myself swept up in a wave of inspiration-this time sparked by my young niece’s dance. It’s March, and as promised, I’m back in the studio, even if the rhythms of life have been busier than I expected. (Life is busy for everyone but it always seems to take me by surprise...hmmm!'
Last month, I was deep in that “murky middle” with my painting of Tango, the curious little cat. I hoped February would bring his final brushstrokes, but life had other plans. Instead, I pivoted-because sometimes the creative path takes us somewhere unexpected. As does life.
This month, I’m painting a special portrait for her birthday-snapshot of her dancing in a competition a few years ago. She’s only 14 now, but even then, her joy was radiant. As someone who grew up performing in one way or another and dancing-first gymnastics, then a variety of dance styles-I know the magic of that moment. It’s not just movement; it’s a language that lets you soar.
I can’t share the final piece just yet (it’s a surprise!), but I’m making good progress. I’ve chosen a rich, heavy-duty mixed media paper-perfect for capturing the movement and lightness of her dance and of course easy for posting.
While I leave Tango resting for a moment, this portrait is a reminder of how movement-both in dance and in life-can keep us going. I’ll be sure to share more as I get closer to finishing.
Thank you for being part of this creative journey with me—your support means the world.
Warm wishes,
Amanda
